My name is Gina Rizzo, I am an advanced practice nurse with extensive experience treating patients with spinal and other neurologic disorders. After receiving my nursing degree from Quinnipiac University, I have worked as a nurse with experience throughout the continuum of nursing care including the intensive care unit. I went on to become a nurse practitioner following additional education at Seton Hall University.
Throughout my career as a nurse practitioner, I have assisted in thousands of spinal surgeries and am truly committed to providing high quality, compassionate care to patients with spinal disorders. I have lectured at national meetings on numerous topics including on how to be a good surgical assistant and spinal anatomy for surgical assisting. Over the past three years I have also had the privilege as research coordinator for a recent FDA trial for the TOPS device, a motion preserving spinal device. Along with my colleagues and fellow Maxim Nurse Practitioner, Monica Kleban, we have also contributed articles to multiple nursing journals on complex neurosurgical cases.
I am truly passionate about developing meaningful relationships with my patients. Maxim Brain and Spine will offer a platform where patients are not treated as a number, but as individuals along their surgical journey. I aim to not only be a resource to these patients, but make an otherwise stressful surgical experience into a smooth transition back to normal life.
